While women total about 47% of the general workforce, they comprise only 29% of the manufacturing workforce. But the industry is ripe for change; as women continue earning more than half of all associate’s, bachelor’s, and master’s degrees, increasingly in STEM-focused fields, they are beginning to enter the industrial workplace in higher numbers.
That said, being a woman new to a career in manufacturing and working in a male-dominated industrial environment can be quite challenging.
Thomas Insights spoke with a number of female industrial professionals to learn about their experiences and ask what advice they would share with women pursuing a career in manufacturing.
