Mark Smedley Named Vice President, Global Financial Services and Insurance Sales
April 30, 2020— Red Hat, Inc., the world’s leading provider of open source solutions, appointed Mark Smedley to VP, Global Financial Services and Insurance Sales.
Smedley comes to Red Hat after a tenured career at Oracle, most recently serving as Global Industry Vice President, Financial Services Solutions. At Red Hat, Smedley will guide the global FSI vertical team, building upon established momentum and solutions. Moving forward, he looks to accelerate execution with field teams in partnership with IBM, and grow the ecosystem of GSI partners, ISVs and influencers.
IBM (NYSE:IBM) and Red Hat recently closed the transaction under which IBM acquired all of the issued and outstanding common shares for $190.00 per share in cash, representing a total equity value of approximately $34 billion. The acquisition redefines the cloud market for business. Red Hat’s open hybrid cloud technologies are now paired with the unmatched scale and depth of IBM’s innovation and industry expertise, and sales leadership in more than 175 countries.
