April Bishop Named Chief Food Safety Officer at Urban Farmer Foods
Urban Farmer Foods, a Paine Schwartz company and leading manufacturer of better-for-you frozen foods and plant-based pizzas, appointed April Bishop as Chief Food Safety Officer.
April brings over two decades of specialized expertise in food safety and quality management, with a strong track record of leadership in the food industry. Most recently, she served as Senior Director of Food Safety at TreeHouse Foods, where she led food safety programs across 27 plants in North America. In this role, she managed a team of experts in microbiology, sanitation, FDA compliance, and other critical areas, ensuring strict adherence to FSMA, HACCP, and GFSI. Her strategic leadership was key in integrating food safety practices during acquisitions and standardizing quality efforts across the company.
Before her time at TreeHouse Foods, April held significant roles at ConAgra Foods as Director of Food Safety and Quality. She was responsible for implementing comprehensive quality and food safety standards across various product lines, including frozen and dry goods. Her work included leading HACCP teams, managing allergen control programs, and ensuring full regulatory compliance.
April holds a Bachelor’s Degree, Food Science from University of Wisconsin – Madison and a Master’s degree, Food Safety from Michigan State University.
